CoolSculpting® is the coolest, most innovative, non-surgical way to lose those annoying bumps and bulges of stubborn fat. This revolutionary technology targets and cools unwanted fat cells in the selected area to induce a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in fat bulges.
Unlike most other methods of fat reduction, CoolSculpting involves no needles, surgery, or downtime. Patients often spend procedure time reading, working on their laptops, or simply relaxing.
It’s safe, FDA-cleared and effective. Results look natural and can be seen as early as three weeks following treatment, with the most dramatic results after one to three months.
Good Candidates for CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese, or a substitute for surgical methods such as liposuction. Good candidates have noticeable bulges in certain areas they’d like to get rid of. Your doctor will determine if treatment is right for you during a one-on-one consultation.
You and your doctor first select the area(s) to be treated. Your doctor will position the device on your body. The device will then draw the bulge up between two cooling panels. The sensation is a firm pull and pressure – enough of a pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. An hour or so later, depending on your needs, you’re done.
As the cooling begins during the first few minutes, you will feel pressure and intense cold. This soon dissipates. Many people read, work on their laptop, or even take a nap during their treatment.
During your consultation, your doctor will discuss how much time should be allotted based on your individual treatment plan. A typical treatment can last between one and three hours.
What to Expect During Your CoolSculpting Procedure – a step-by-step recap:
You will either sit or lie down during your procedure.
Your provider will position an applicator cup on the area to be treated.
The provider will then turn on the vacuum system. Vacuum pressure draws tissue into the applicator cup, causing sensations of intense pulling, tugging, and potentially pinching. The applicator cup is soft and your skin will be protected by a lubricated pad.
After the initial positioning and vacuum phase, the cool-down period initiates. During the cool-down period, you will sense an initial sensation of intense cold. As cold is applied and the area becomes numb (typically in 5-10 minutes), it can cause sensations of tingling, stinging, aching and/or cramping. These sensations typically subside within a few minutes.
The treatment period begins. You can relax and get comfortable. Most patients read or listen to music. Others do work on a laptop or surf the web on an iPad. Some even take a nap. You’ll enjoy complete privacy. Most practices give you a pager – should you need anything, your provider is a click away!
With 5 minutes left in the hour, the cooling phase ends and a massage phase begins. The vacuum pressure is used to massage the treated area and ‘awaken’ the tissue.
As a final step the applicator cup is removed and your provider will massage the treated area briefly. You’re all done! Now you can just let the process of cryolipolysis work its magic!
